Chimney Height Reductions
Why chimney height reductions are sometimes needed
Some older chimneys are taller than necessary, especially if theyโre no longer in use or have become structurally unsafe. Excess height can make chimneys more vulnerable to wind damage or instability. Reducing the height can prevent collapse, meet planning requirements, or prepare the chimney for removal.
How we reduce chimney height
We start by assessing the structural condition of the chimney and planning a safe reduction. Working from our cherry picker, we carefully dismantle the upper courses of brickwork to the desired level. The top is then capped, pointed, or flauched as required to leave a neat, sealed finish.
