Over time, constant exposure to the elements especially frost, rain, and extreme temperature changes can cause the flaunching to crack, loosen, or break away entirely. 

When this happens, the chimney pots can become unstable or even fall, posing a serious risk to people and property below. The top layers of brickwork may also be affected, further compromising the structure. 

Cracked or missing flaunching allows rainwater to enter the chimney, accelerating the erosion of masonry, damaging internal flue liners, and potentially leading to damp issues inside your home. 

Keeping your flaunching in good condition is critical to maintaining the safety, stability, and weather resistance of your chimney. Regular inspections and timely repairs can prevent costly damage and extend the lifespan of the entire stack.

If the mortar is cracked, loose, or beyond repair, we carefully remove it and clean down the crown of the chimney to prepare a stable base for the new work. 

With the chimney surface cleaned and cleared, we mix a strong, weather-resistant mortar suitable for high exposure applications. 

We then rebed the chimney pots (if needed) and apply fresh flaunching mortar around their base, carefully shaping it with the correct slope to ensure water runs off efficiently and does not pool or penetrate. 

Our flaunching work not only provides a watertight seal but also ensures the pots are securely fixed and the chimney top is left with a clean, professional finish.
